OUR PASTORS
Pastor Montel Powers is the Lead Pastor of The Altar Church – “A Place of Transformation” in Warner Robins, Georgia. A proud Middle Georgia native, Pastor Montel discovered his passion for music and ministry at an early age, serving faithfully in church and developing into a leader who is deeply committed to worship, discipleship, and spiritual growth. He and his wife Jasmine believe that family is our first ministry and are committed to modeling this principle along with their sons, Kyler & Alden.
Answering the call to full-time ministry, Pastor Montel has devoted his life to preaching the Gospel, equipping believers, and creating spaces where individuals can experience true transformation through Jesus Christ. His leadership is rooted in the church’s vision found in Matthew 4:19—calling people to follow Christ and become fishers of men.
Under his leadership, The Altar Church is committed to its mission: encouraging and empowering disciples of Jesus Christ to live according to the Holy Scriptures in a way that transforms their lives and impacts the world around them. Pastor Montel is passionate about building a ministry that not only teaches the Word of God but also demonstrates it through authentic living and intentional community.
Pastor Montel leads with compassion, authenticity, and a clear vision to see lives changed, families restored, and communities transformed by the power of God. His heart is to see every person encounter God, discover their purpose, and walk boldly in their calling.
OUR VISION
The Altar Church exists to call people back to Jesus. Rooted in Matthew 4:19, our vision is simple: “Come, follow me… and I will send you out to fish for people.” We believe following Jesus is not just a moment—it’s a lifestyle. It’s a daily surrender, a transformation of the heart, and a commitment to live on mission.

CORE CONVICTIONS
Invitation- Evangelism
We believe that it is our assignment to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through the lives that we live and the revelation of the Word of God that we’ve received. Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Transformation
We believe that it is the Word of God and the Spirit of God that alters the lives of those that will yield and obey. Consistency in obeying God and adhering to His Word produces change. Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Duplication
We believe that our transformation isn’t just for us but we are transformed so that we can affect the world around us. Matthew 4:19 “And He said to them, “[b]Follow Me [as My disciples, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk], and I will make you fishers of men.”
